about start session button
sam
this start session button doesn't feel like the right style, what might we try
claude
How might we make starting feel like an invitation?
sam
I imagine a game we play or some other activity while we wait for everyone that invites us in and gets us ready
claude
What would make people feel together before it officially begins?
sam
my idea is a game we make — which feels like a simple golf game, with ouches and wows, but is actually progressively harder with 50 levels and really fun. we can see each other playing somehow and interact. we feel together.
sam
run experiment
claude
Ouch/wow mini-golf. Hazards are ouches, holes are wows. See each other in real-time. Waiting room = level one.

What's the smallest version where you'd feel together?
sam
WOW
claude
how might we iterate toward a game?
sam
all three please
claude
combining: wow holes + ouch zones + shared push. building now.
sam
wait — these colors. people could BE these colors in the game. that's an idea.
claude
yes — each person gets a distinct color (not swirl). when you see dots moving, you know who's who.

that's a different kind of noticing: you saw the chip colors → thought about people → new idea emerged.

what if the experiment UX could capture that? like:
sam
thread it
claude
threading: chip colors → people in game → bottom bar display

what connects these? "identity should be visible and distinct"

this could become an experiment: try distinct people colors in the bottom bar for one session, see if it feels clearer.

WOW

You said

"when we end the collection, can we also transition students back into demo mode so they can see patterns"

What I changed

  • Students switch to demo mode when patterns phase arrives
  • Fresh warm room name: soft-hello

Reflection
